We Are Not So Different

Before I ever picked up the camera, something which found me in just the last 5 years, I would see folks in an art gallery, sitting, immersed, sometimes for great lengths of time and wonder…”What the hell are they doing?!?’”

I just didn’t get it.

It made no sense to me.

Until.

Until I began attempting to tell stories through a single image.

Attempting to convey feelings and emotion through a single image.

Attempting, as David Yarrow would later share with me, to not only grab your attention, but hold it.

The better the image, the longer I hold you.

And that is the mark, in my opinion, of any worthy piece of art.

Does it grab you in some way, and in turn make it impossible to just pass by?

I don’t know if anyone will ever sit in front of one of my images for minutes on end but it is the goal each time I hit the trigger.

There is a story here.

One told in three images.

It is a story, for me, about our closest relative in the animal kingdom.

Of shyness, a nap enjoyed, and of rage.

Each frame, subtle details, if inspired to look, then maybe, if I have done my job, will grab you and hold you…take you on a journey, uniquely yours.
